Ｑ：問一下 honesty跟sincerity一個誠實一個誠意(google翻的) 差別在哪裡!??
Ａ：首先google或yahoo翻譯是學英文的萬惡泉源, 建議千萬不要用！要區別幾個相似詞的意思, 一定要看英英字典, 特別注意例句中前後的詞語搭配,不要單靠中文翻譯. 因為這樣寫或說出來的英文一定會是中式英文:)

honesty/ sincerity 都是名詞 都是形容詞演變過來的 所以直接查其形容詞解釋和定義會比較明瞭
使用情境不同. honest比較著重是否有說實話, sincere比較著重是否行為或態度是出自真心, 而不是裝的. 而sincere 的人通常都會honest
不過若真要區別中文翻譯,
honest 誠實在於”實” （不是騙人的 是真實 老實的 通常指說真話）
sincere誠意在於”意“（部首是心, 自是由心底發出 表示誠心誠意）
都有誠字 所以這兩個字都可以和言語相關 （誠的部首是言部）
所以當初會這麼翻譯這兩個字 應該也是基於這個邏輯吧
在很多詞語搭配上也不同. 下方例句若兩字掉換, 其實就不道地. 所以還是建議查英文字典看例句,就會感覺得出兩者差別在哪.
例如就沒有 to be sincere (with you) 這個慣用法,一般都是說to be honest
會說sincere apology 不會說honest apology 因為中文也會翻譯成誠心的道歉 而非誠實的道歉
詞語搭配是所有台灣學生學英語的最大罩門之一, 只靠一對一的中文翻譯, 無論寫作或口語都會死無葬身之地！所以學字彙記得要勤查英英字典, 記一整個單位（chunk), 就是前前後後搭配的介系詞或形容詞都要當成ㄧ個字, 把單字的範圍放大. 所以一個生字有可能是好幾個字組成的喔～
